Detectives from the Bolivar County Sheriff's Department are actively searching for two suspects wanted in connection with an armed robbery that occurred Wednesday evening at the Dollar General store in Rosedale.

"We received a 911 call at approximately 9:20 p.m. Wednesday evening," said BCSD Chief Deputy, Gerald Wesley Jr. "The call was made by a clerk at the Dollar General store in Rosedale saying that the store had been robbed."

When deputies arrived on the scene, the store clerk said two black males, wearing black hoodies and covering their faces with bandanas, had entered the store and demanded money.

"The clerk described the first suspect as 6 feet tall and wearing a black hoodie and blue jeans," said Wesley. "The second suspect was described as being approximately 5 feet 6 inches and wearing a black hoodie and white pants."

The clerk also told deputies that the second suspect was displaying a weapon.

After entering the store and demanding money, the suspects grabbed a cash register and took an undisclosed amount of money out of the drawer.

"After grabbing the cash, the suspects fled the scene on foot," added Wesley.

Members of the county's EOC, or Emergency Operations Center, arrived on the scene with a dog to assist in the search for the suspects. However, the search was unsuccessful and no arrests have been made at this time.

Wesley said the department is asking that the public come forward and provide information to assist in this investigation.

Anyone who might have information on this or any other crime is encouraged to call the Bolivar County Sheriff's Department at 843-5378, the Rosedale Police Department at 759-6813 or the Cleveland-Bolivar County chapter of CrimeStoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.

The identity of all callers will remain anonymous and any caller that provides information that leads to an arrest may qualify for a cash reward.
