Closings Announced for Monday holiday

Residents of Bolivar and Sunflower counties are gearing up for Labor Day celebrations on Monday.

Folks are firing up their grills in anticipation of the unofficial end to summer.

Keep in mind that most area businesses, services and government offices will be closed to honor the contributions of workers across America and The Bolivar Commercial will be included.

Also,

• Federal and county offices of all municipalities will be closed in observance of the holiday.

• Cleveland School District will be closed on Sept. 3.

• The U.S. Postal Service will be closed.

• All area banks and libraries will be closed.

• Resourceful Environmental Services Inc. will operate regular trash pickup on Monday.

Some municipality board meetings have been changed due to the holiday.

The board meeting for Cleveland will be at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday; Mound Bayou 6 p.m. Tuesday; Shaw 6 p.m. Tuesday; Winstonville 5:30 p.m. Tuesday; Benoit 4 p.m. Tuesday; Boyle 5:30 p.m. Tuesday; Duncan 6 p.m. Tuesday; Gunnison 6 p.m. Tuesday, Merigold 6 p.m. Tuesday; Pace 6 p.m. Tuesday; Doddsville 7 p.m. Tuesday; Rosedale 5 p.m. Tuesday; Shelby 7 p.m. Tuesday; Drew 5:30 p.m. Tuesday; Renova 7 p.m. Wednesday and Ruleville will not meet Tuesday but did not confirm a rescheduled date at presstime.
