Three Sunflower County men are still behind bars this morning facing charges for their roles in a string of burglaries that have occurred in the past several months in two Delta counties.

Rotavious Foster, 21, of Ruleville; Brandon Ross, 20, of Doddsville; and Stephen Williams, 18, also of Ruleville, were still being held by the Sunflower County Sheriff's Department this morning awaiting their initial appearance before a judge on charges of burglary.

The case is still under investigation and more charges may come at a later time.

Late Monday afternoon a Sunflower County Sheriff's Deputy spotted the suspects, along with two other unidentified individuals, in the Drew area.

"The suspects were traveling in a tan Chevy Tahoe," said a spokesperson for the Sunflower County Sheriff's Department by phone this morning. "Once the suspects realized that they had been spotted a high speed chase ensued."

The sheriff's deputy contacted local law enforcement officers, from the city of Drew as well as deputies from the Bolivar County Sheriff's Department, asking for assistance.

The men fled from officers before coming to a stop in the vicinity of the Drew Country Club.

"After coming to a stop, the men exited the vehicle and fled in a grassy area," said the spokesperson. "Officers pursued but were unable to apprehend the suspects. Members of the Delta K-9 unit out of Cleveland were called in for support, however, the five suspects were apprehended before the dogs were released to hunt."

Chief Deputy Gerald Wesley Jr. of the Bolivar County Sheriff's Department said that the subjects are wanted for questioning involving a number of burglaries that have recently occurred in Bolivar County as well.

Both sheriffs' departments are working together on the investigation and more details will be released, as they are made available.
