East Side Boys 68, Leland 46

The East Side Trojans continued their winning way by defeating the Leland High School Cubs in Region 4-3A basketball action at Leland Friday night.

East Side improved to 16-5. Markevius Brown led the Trojans with 19 points, followed by Kharlos Jones with 12 and Jon Paul Davis and Khiry Lucas with 11 each.

Shaw Boys 59, Ray Brooks 50

The Shaw High School Hawks defeated the Ray Brooks Tigers in a Region 3-1A contest Friday night.

The Hawks improved to 12-7 with a perfect 8-0 mark in region play. Zedric Bass scored 15 points, blocked two shots and recorded a steal to lead Shaw, followed by Derrell Lewis with 12 points, four rebounds, three steals and two assists and Octavious Stimage with 12 points and nine rebounds.

Velma Jackson Boys 55, Ruleville 34

The Velma Jackson Falcons defeated the Ruleville Central Tigers in a Region 4-3A game at Camden Friday night.

Tyquan Rule led the Tigers with 12 points.

Yazoo Co. Boys 31, Cleveland 30

The Yazoo County Panthers edged out the Cleveland High School Wildcats in a Region 4-3A contest at the Margaret Wade Gymnasium Friday night.

Raymond Gee led the Wildcats with 13 points.

Broad Street Boys 57, Coahoma Co. 52

The Broad Street Jaguars came up big in a key Region 3-2A game by defeating the Coahoma County Red Panthers in Shelby Friday night.

Broad Street improved to 11-7 with a 6-3 mark in the region. Coahoma County led 30-20 at halftime. Gregory Junearick led the Jaguars with 18 points and seven rebounds, followed by Joseph Bryant with 14 points, B.J. Hall with 12 points and Carmen Banger with eight points and seven rebounds.

Bayou Boys 63, NSA 47

The Bayou Academy Colts cruised pas the North Sunflower Academy Rebels in District 2-A action Friday night in Cleveland.

Bayou improved to 11-5 with a 6-3 mark in the district. Chantz Arbuckle led the Colts with 19 points, followed by Michael Portner with 15 and Dillon Vickers with 14.

Shaw Girls 74, Ray Brooks 64

The Shaw High School Lady Hawks earned a thrilling overtime win over the Ray Brooks Lady Tigers in a Region 3-1A showdown Friday night.

Kyrstal Nailer scored 30 points to lead the Lady Hawks, followed by Krystal Short with 12, Wynetta Redding with nine and Shalisa Jackson with eight.

Velma Jackson Girls 49, Ruleville 35

The Ruleville Central Lady Tigers were defeated by the Velma Jackson Lady Falcons in Region 4-3A action at Camden Friday night.

Brunetta Cockrell led the Lady Tigers with 20 points.

West Bolivar Girls 38, JFK 35

The West Bolivar Lady Eagles slid by the John F. Kennedy Lady Hornets in a Region 3-2A game Friday in Rosedale.

Latonya Gadison led the Lady Eagles with 16 points, five rebounds and three steals, followed by Kalesha Williams with 11 points and six steals.

Bayou Jr. Girls 36, NSA 8

The Bayou Academy Lady Colts had no trouble beating the North Sunflower Academy Lady Rebels in a District 2-A game Friday night in Cleveland.

Bayou improved to 14-6 with a 7-1 mark in the district.

Taylor Bailey led the Lady Colts with 16 points, followed by Addison Starnes with six and Ashley Vickers with four.
