Mary Love Jones and Allen Thomas Sledge were united in marriage on December 11, 2010, at First Baptist Church in Cleveland.

The bride is the daughter of Peter Marshall Jones and the late Paula Kay Love. She is the granddaughter of Dorothy Prevost Bright of Cleveland, the late Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Clark Love of Indianola and the late Mr. and Mrs. F.M. Jones of Leland.

The groom is the son of Alinda Capps Sledge of Cleveland and the late Dr. Thomas Nevin Sledge. He is the grandson of Pascal Nevin Sledge and the late Brenda Wilson Sledge and the late Mr. and Mrs. Charles Wilson Capps Jr., all of Cleveland.

The Rev. Milton Burd officiated the double-ring ceremony.

Renalda Lynn Owen, soloist, Richard W. Grant, organist, Jan Glenn Brown, pianist, and Josh Damberg, trumpeter, provided the nuptial music.

The bride was given in marriage by her father, Peter Jones.

She wore a strapless, sweetheart dress along with the groom’s grandmother’s diamond pendant. A satin ribbon was embroidered and placed on the inside of the dress with the bride’s name and date by the grandmother of the bride.

The bride carried a bouquet which included her mother’s handkerchief with both the bride’s and her mother’s initials.

Jessica Elaine Wilson of Oxford served as maid of honor. Megan Alicia Belenchia and Ashley Elizabeth Pentecost, both of Cleveland, Ashley Paige Daugherty of Santa Rosa Beach, Fla., Amanda Spicer Hester of Tupelo, Catherine Rebecca McKissack and Stephanie Anne Zepponi, both of Jackson, and Emily Claire Melvin of Madison, all served as bridesmaids.

Stanton Lane Andrews of Drew, cousin of the bride, served as junior bridesmaid.

Robert Ross Hester served as best man. Jay Parker Burchfield, Matthew Breland Sledge, cousin of the groom, and Allen Parker Swain, all of Cleveland, Clinton Taylor Hudson of Southaven, John Marvin McKinnion of Oxford, and John Matthew Mullins and William Hunter Nowell, both of Merigold, all served as groomsmen.

Peter Marshall Jones Jr. and Thomas Chancellor Jones, both of Cleveland and brothers of the bride, served as junior groomsmen.

Jonathan William Brown, Judson Glenn Brown, Chad Michael Hillis and Howard Wilson Sledge Jr., cousin of the groom, all of Cleveland, Charles Jason Meyer of Merigold and Richard Knight Rhodes of Gunnison, all served as ushers.

Following the ceremony, a reception was held at the Cleveland Country Club.

Julie Kristen Sparks of Belmont and Chelsea Lauren Steele of Jackson, both served at the registry.

Martha Wood Wheeler of Cleveland and Rachel Wood Wheeler of Starkville, both served as wedding directors.

After honeymooning in Kona, Hawaii, the couple is at home in Cleveland, where the bride is a language arts teacher at the Walter C. Robinson Achievement Center in Cleveland and the groom is a certified real estate appraiser with Rip Walker and Associates in Memphis, Tenn.

Prenuptial parties

On the eve of the wedding, the mother of the groom hosted a rehearsal dinner for family and friends at Crawdads of Merigold. The guests were entertained by Danny Abraham and Friends.

On the day of the wedding, a Bridesmaid’s Luncheon was held at The Gallery in Merigold, hosted by Penny Andrews, aunt of the bride, Memorie Naron, Cristy Reed, Donna Peden and Katie Naron.

Nevin Sledge, grandfather of the groom, also hosted a luncheon at his home for the groomsmen and ushers on the day of the wedding.
