Brian Ware is set to open Ware Wine and Spirits, located near Kroger, at the old Verizon Wireless building on U.S. Highway 61.

“We’re actually looking at opening sometime middle of next week,” said Ware. “From there, we’ll set a grand opening a week or two out.”

Ware is no stranger to the liquor store business.

“My in-laws’ have a liquor store,” said Ware. “I’ve been running it for them for about five and a half years.

“I saw the opportunity for one on this side of town with this building,” he continued.

Ware has been hard at work renovating his building.

“It’ll be big,” he said of the store. “I’ve got two separate rooms in the store and one is a wine room.

“We’ve been putting in real late nights,” Ware continued. “We’ve done a lot of work to the building.

“This used to be the old Verizon Wireless building,” said Ware. “We knocked out walls, put in a new floor and have redone the whole thing.”

Ware has had the help of his father in completing these renovations.

“About 95 percent of the work my dad and I have done ourselves,” he said. “There’s a good bit of pride there. I’ve put in a lot of late nights by myself.”

Once Ware opens, the store hours will be from 10 a.m. -10 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays.

“I’m so excited. I really am,” Ware said.
