Blanch Phillips Turnage of Rosedale is a candidate for trustee in the West Bolivar Consolidated School District.

“As children attending school in this district, we used pencil, paper and old textbooks. However, we learned to read, write and think, to name a few,” says Turnage. “ Disappointed is a mild word to explain how I feel about the situation our students are in — We Can Do Better and we must Make Education Real.

“I have 17 years of experience in this district as a teacher. My platform includes attracting excellent teachers, exploring strategies to assist our students, revising disciplinary policies and including parents in this process, providing additional finances for classrooms (rather than administrative salaries) and welcoming parental and community participation. It is not about Me, it’s about us.

“Vote for improvement in education on Nov. 5.”
