Trojans finish 2nd in 3A

The East Side Trojans represented Cleveland well in the 3A State Boys Track and Field Meet by finishing second Monday in Pearl High School.

East Side finished with 99 points, which was only four points behind first place Tylertown (103 points).

East Side’s biggest performance came in the relay events as the Trojans won the 4x100-meter relay (43.22) and the 4x400-meter relay (3:27.49). The members of the 4x100-meter team are Jalen Thomas, Chris Johnson, Padarrious Bronner and Simeon Kimble, and members of the 4x400-meter team are Anfernee Morgan, Phillip Williams, Perry Henry and Leon Green.

East Side’s 4x200-meter team also finished second with a time of 1:30. Team members are Morgan, Bronner Kimble and Henry.

In the individual events for East Side, John Paul Davis took second in the high jump (6-06), Henry finished third in the high jump (6-04), Thomas finished second in the long jump (22-04.75) and fifth in the triple jump (44-04.75), Bronner finished third in the 200-meter dash (22.43) and fourth in the 100-meter dash (11.50), Morgan placed third in the 800-meter run (2:05.34), Kedric Webb placed fourth in the shot put (43-06) and fifth in the discus (122-05), Henry took fourth in the 800-meter run (2:07.80), Stanquazne Dawkins finished fourth in the discus (136-09), Kimble placed sixth in the 100-meter dash (11.56), Quadarrius Shaw finished sixth in the 110-meter hurdles (16.53), Dekwaun Williams placed seventh in the triple jump (43-06) and Caleb Silas finished eighth in the shot put (39-09.50)

In the 3A girls meet, Ruleville finished 14th with 16 points, while East Side took 17th with 10.

For Ruleville, Leah Deberry finished fourth in the 400-meter dash (1:01.79), Jade Spratt took fifth in the 800-meter run (2:43.56) and Breneciya Montgomery finished eighth in the discus (83-08).

Ruleville also finished third in the 4x100-meter relay with a time of 51.70.

For East Side, Keisha Cotton finished sixth in the 400-meter dash (1:03.80) and sixth in the high jump (4-08) and Lashawn Palmer finished fifth in the shot put (33-08.25).
