Sunflower County Sheriff James Haywood is pressing hard to solve the case of a man who was murdered just outside of Drew earlier this month.

The body of Christopher "Zeke" Burnett, 33, was found dead in his house by authorities on Valentine's Day after his sister called in and said she discovered his body.

It's estimated that he was murdered on Feb. 12, two days before authorities entered the house on 170 Hunter Ave. in the New Edition subdivision considered to be county land.

Haywood said there have been a few people of interest and the department continues to work on leads but no one has been charged for the murder.

"We are asking for the community's help in solving in this case," said Haywood. "Anyone with information, please call the Sunflower County Sheriff's Department at 662-887-2121."

The autopsy revealed that Burnett suffered two gunshots to the head.

Burnett's house was ransacked and Haywood said drugs might have been involved in the case.

The case marks the second murder in the same neighborhood within the past six months.
