Services will be held at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, March 16, 2013, at the Second Baptist Church in Ann Arbor, Mich.
Family Hour will be at 10:30 a.m. until the time of the service.
Services have been entrusted to Muehlig Funeral Chapel, 403 South Fourth Ave., Ann Arbor, MI.
Sanford was born July 4, 1927, to Sanford Sr. and Georgia Moore in Moorhead.
He had three brothers Floyd, Pink, and Claude and two sisters, Johnnie Mae and Mamie. They grew up in the Mississippi Delta before moving to Michigan.
As a young man, Sanford served the United States during World War II in the Army.
He worked for Grand Trunk Railroad as a foreman and retired after 40 years of service. Sanford resided in Ann Arbor where he was the president of the Credit Union and a member of the senior choir, male chorus, and usher board at Second Baptist Church until his move to Mississippi.
He was a member of Poplar Grove M.B. Church in Boyle.
Sanford was preceded in death by his parents, Sanford Sr. and Georgia, four of his siblings Floyd, Pink, Claude and Johnnie Mae, and his daughter, Fonda.
Sanford is survived by his wife, Azsree Dean-Moore; three sons, Sanford Moore III (Barbara), of Pennsylvania, Reginald Moore of Toledo, Ohio, and Keith Moore of Ann Arbor, Mich. With his union to Azsree, he became father to five more children, Curtis, Lisa, and O’Neal Dean, Rhonda Woods, and Equonda (Marcus) Jackson, all of Boyle; a sister Mamie Walker of Detroit, Mich.; a son-in-law George Gunn; two special nieces, Lorraine Nelson of Detroit, Mich., and Roslin (Joski) Jenkins of Eagle Lake, Texas; 17 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
