Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 3, 2013, at Shiloh M.B. Church in Shelby, followed by a burial in the Shiloh Memorial Gardens in Shelby and officiated by Reverend Mary Dorsey-Redding. Rev. James E. Miller is the pastor.
Visitation will be held from 10-11 a.m on Saturday, August 3, 2013, and Family Hour will be held from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday, August 2, 2013, at Shiloh M.B. Church in Shelby.
He is preceded in death by six siblings, Marilyn Dorsey, J.D. Dorsey and Earline Monroe, all of Scott, Mable Dorsey of Saxton, Mo., and L.C. Dorsey of Memphis; step brother, James “Billy” Stanton; and one son, Russell Dorsey Jr.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Derotha Dorsey of Shelby; eight children, Yvonne (Thomas) Singleton of Natchez, Vivian Seaton of Ridgeland, Cheryl Rose of Shelby, Shirley (Marshall) McKinney of Memphis, Tenn., Carol (Howard) Dixon of Winstonville, Deborah Curley-Bell of Shelby, Mary Dorsey-Redding of Madison and Ada (Barron) Story of Cleveland; one godson, Roosevelt (Beverly) Gooden of Memphis, Tenn.; 16 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
