Cleveland 13, Yazoo County 12

The Cleveland High School Wildcats slid by the Yazoo County Panthers in Region 3-4A action Friday night in Yazoo City.

Cleveland improved to 6-4 with a 3-1 mark in the region, while Yazoo County fell to 5-5 with a 1-3 mark in the region.

Vaughnte Dorsey rushed for 69 yards on 21 carries with a touchdown and completed 5-of-9 passes for 129 yards and a touchdown to lead Cleveland, followed by Andonte Maxie with 40 rushing yards on 13 carries and 67 receiving yards on three catches and Earnest Butler with 27 rushing yards on six carries and 62 receiving yards with a touchdown on two catches.

Cleveland will host Greenwood on Friday in another region game.

East Side 40, Ruleville 14

The East Side Trojans cruised past the Ruleville Central Tigers in Region 3-3A action Friday night in Ruleville.

East Side improved to 7-3 with a 4-0 mark in the region, while Ruleville fell to 1-8 with a 0-4 mark in the region.

East Side led 20-8 at halftime.

Quadre Butler rushed for 126 yards with two touchdowns on 15 carries to lead the Trojans, followed by Jalen Thomas who completed 6-of-10 passes for 130 yards and two TD passes and rushed for 41 yards on 11 carries, Perry Henry who caught three passes for 41 yards with two touchdowns, Leon Green who caught two passes for 63 yards, Taquille Eatmon with 38 rushing yards on five carries and Maurice Banyon with 49 yards and a touchdown on five carries.

On defense for East Side, Dy’monquae Pates led the Trojans with five tackles and an interception return for 39 yards, followed by Thomas with an interception.

East Side will host O’Bannon in Cleveland in another region game.

JFK 46, McAdams 0

The John F. Kennedy Hornets blasted the McAdams Bulldogs in Region 2-1A action Friday night at McAdams.

JFK improved to 7-2 with a 6-0 mark in the region, while McAdams fell to 1-9 with a 0-6 mark in the region.

Ladaris Johnson led the Hornets’ offense with two touchdown passes, followed by Ricky Fleming with two touchdown catches, Carnez Gant with two rushing touchdowns and a two-point conversion, Xavier Roberts with three two-point conversions, Octavius Taylor with a touchdown catch, Jakevius Dye with a touchdown pass and Jarvis Lewis with a rushing touchdown.

JFK will be back in action on Friday when the team hosts Durant in another region game.

Broad Street 20, Durant 13

The Broad Street Jaguars fought off the Durant High School Tigers in Region 2-1A action Friday night at Durant.

Broad Street improved to 7-2 with a 6-1 mark in the region, while Durant fell to 4-5 with a 1-5 record in the region.

Trailing 13-12, Broad Street’s Zekedrick Bingham recovered a fumble and returned it 30 yards for a touchdown with a little over a minute remaining. Demarcus Alexander scored the 2-point conversion to give Broad Street the 20-13 to seal up the victory.

Alexander led the Jaguars with 70 rushing yards and two touchdowns on nine carries, followed by Richard Horn with 62 rushing yards on nine carries and Jarvaris McClenton with 35 rushing yards on 11 carries.

Bingham led the Jaguars’ defense with 14 tackles, a forced fumble and a touchdown on defense, followed by Jonathan Lyles and Devonte Brown with nine tackles each, Alexander with six tackles and an interception, Ken Allen with four tackles including a sack and a forced fumble and Devontae Britton with two tackles and an interception return for 25 yards.

Broad Street will be back in action on Nov. 8 when the team hosts JFK in another region game.

Shaw 48, Montgomery Co. 0

The Shaw High School Hawks hammered the Montgomery County Hornets in Region 2-1A action Friday night in Kilmichael.

Shaw won its third straight game and improved to 5-4 with a 4-2 mark in the region, while Montgomery County fell to 3-7 with a 2-5 mark in the region.

Andre Pruitt tossed three touchdown passes to lead the Hawks, followed by Octavius Stimmage with two touchdowns catches, Jermarquis Stimmage with a touchdown catch, Justin King and Reggie Scott with a rushing touchdown each and Travelle Ware with an interception return.

Shaw will return to action on Friday when they host the St. Joe Fighting Irish in another region showdown.

St. Joe 35, Ray Brooks 12

The Ray Brooks Tigers came up short against the St. Joe Fighting Irish in Region 2-1A action Friday night in Greenville.

Ray Brooks fell to 1-8 with a 1-5 mark in the region, while St. Joe improved to 6-3 with a 4-2 mark in the region.

Syderrick Maiten completed 5-of-9 passes for 30 yards with two interceptions and rushed for a touchdown, while Broderick Moore rushed for 51 yards on 11 carries and caught two passes for 13 yards to lead Ray Brooks, followed by Tevin Carter with 32 rushing yards on 13 carries and five receiving yards on two catches and Lewis Caldwell with a rushing touchdown.

On defense for the Tigers, Jarvis Moore recorded nine tackles to lead Ray Brooks, followed by Walter Mister with six tackles and Rodrick Thomas with a sack.

Ray Brooks will return to action on Friday when the team hosts McAdams in another region game.

Marvell 66, NSA 62

The North Sunflower Academy Rebels lost a barnburner to the Marvell Academy Eagles in District 6 8-man Friday in Marvell Academy.

NSA ended its season at 3-7 with a 0-4 mark in the district, while Marvell improved to 3-5 with a 1-3 record in the district.

Ronny Henley threw for 418 yards with eight touchdowns, an interception and a rushing touchdown, followed by Colton Moon with 228 receiving yards with three touchdowns, Jerry Mitchell with 96 receiving yards with two touchdowns, Dylan Lofton with 49 yards and two touchdowns and Jacolby Brown a touchdown catch.

Lucas Garret led the Rebels defense with 13 tackles.
