NSA 30, Marvell 20

The North Sunflower Academy Rebels finally broke into the win column by defeating the Marvell Academy Eagles Friday night in 8-man football action at Drew.

The Rebels pushed their record to 1-3, while Marvell dropped to 0-3.

Jerry Mitchell completed 5-of-10 passes for 161 yards with a touchdown and rushed for 97 yards and two touchdowns on 12 carries to lead the Rebels, followed by Colton Moon with four catches with 138 yards and two touchdowns, Derick Livingston with 70 yards rushing on 13 carries and Dylan Lofton caught a pass for 23 yards.

Livingston recorded 14 tackles and eight assists, followed by Lucas Garrett with 10 tackles, six assists, a fumble recovery and a pass deflection and Ronny Henley with seven tackles, five assists and a pass deflection.

NSA will be back in action on Friday when the team travels to Belzoni to play Humphreys Academy in District 6-A 8-man action.

Leland 26, JFK 16

The John F. Kennedy Hornets came up short as they fell to the Leland High School Cubs Friday night in Leland.

JFK fell to 1-2, while Leland improved to 3-1.

The Hornets trailing 12-8 at halftime. The Hornets a 16-12 in the second half, but Leland blocked a punt that went for a touchdown to take the Leland. Leland had a long interception return that set up a touchdown drive to put the game out of reach for the Hornets.

Javier Roberts and Ladarius Johnson each rushed for a touchdown and a two-point conversion.

JFK will be back in action on Friday when the team hosts Ray Brooks to open its Region 2-1A schedule in Mound Bayou.

West Memphis 32, Bayou 12

The Bayou Academy Colts suffered a tough defeat at the hands of the West Memphis Christian School Black Knights Friday in West Memphis, Ark.

The Colts fell to 1-3, while West Memphis improved to 2-2.

Davis Dalton led Bayou’s offense by rushing for 66 yards and a touchdown on 13 carries and caught passes four passes for 23 yards and a touchdown, followed by John Thomas Davis with 25 yards on four carries. Tyler Kitchings struggled at quarterback as he was 6-of-25 passing for 50 yards with a touchdown and two interceptions.

Bayou will travel to Batesville to play North Delta Friday.
