Bayou 29, Greenville Christian 0

The Bayou Academy Colts had an easy day on the baseball field as they blew past the Greenville Christian Saints in District 2-A action at Monday in Cleveland.

Bayou improved to 11-2 with a 7-0 mark in the district. Tyler Kitchings stroked a grand slam home run to lead the Colts at the plate, followed by David Marlow with a three-run home run and Michael Portner with a two-run homer.

On the mound, Trevor Runnels gave up just one hit with three strikeouts in the three-inning shutout.

Bayou will return to the baseball field today to play Deer Creek in another district game at 4 p.m. in Arcola.

St. Joe 11, Shaw 1

The Shaw High School Hawks came up short against the St. Joe Fighting Irish in Region 3-1A action Monday in Greenville.

Shaw fell to 7-5 with a 2-1 mark in the region. Ruben Kince suffered the loss as he gave up nine runs, eight earned, on 10 hits with seven walks and a hit batter,

Damon Redding tagged two hits to lead the Hawks at the plate, followed by Demerrius Williams and Austin Smith with a hit each.

Shaw will return to the baseball diamond today when the team hosts St. Joe in a 4 p.m. region game.

Leland 15, Ruleville 5

The Ruleville Central Tigers dropped a Region 4-3A contest to the Leland High School Cubs Monday at Leland.

Ruleville fell to 6-6 with a 3-2 mark in the region. Tavares Foster, Quezdon Nash and Duwan Harris pitched for the Tigers.

Ontario Smith and Foster tagged a hit each to lead Ruleville at the plate.

Ruleville is scheduled to return to the baseball diamond today against Leflore County in another region game at Ruleville with the game time set for 4 p.m.
