Twenty-three chapters, including one right here in Cleveland, were acknowledged and received a portion of $26,000 in prize money.
“This is something that we were proud to participate in,” said James “Tres” Anderson, director of the Cleveland County chapter of FFA. “We worked in collaboration with the Bolivar County Humane Society and have multiple programs in place working with cattle and other animals that will benefit from this award.”
The Cleveland Chapter of FFA was named a honorable mention finalist in the contest and will receive $1,000 in prize money for their efforts.

Not only did these chapters earn funds to help support their activities but these students made deeper connections to the industry that can help them as they become our future leaders.”

Future Farmers of America was founded in 1928 by a group of young farmers. Their mission was to prepare future generations of farmers for the challenges they will face in feeding growing populations. They still drive to meet that mission today, however, the organization has branched out from just farmers to future biologist, chemist, veterinarians and entrepreneurs.
FFA chapters participating in the marketing contest worked with a local veterinarian or animal health supplier on an educational program, producer meeting, open house or other initiative to promote the effective, economic and proper use of cattle animal health products. Then, the chapter submitted a plan summary, how the objective was communicated to the audience and the response from beef and dairy producer attendees.
