New Year's causes gov. change

The holiday season continues as the world eagerly awaits the arrival of 2013.

Most business and government offices will be closed early next week in observance of New Year's.

The Bolivar Commercial will be closed Tuesday, New Year's Day, and will resume regular business hours on Wednesday.

City and town hall offices for Cleveland, Renova, Rosedale, Shaw, Shelby, Drew, Duncan, Winstonville and Merigold will be closed Monday and Tuesday and resume regular hours Wednesday.

City and town hall offices for Mound Bayou, Ruleville and Beulah will close at noon Monday, all day Tuesday and resume regular hours Wednesday.

Boyle Town Hall will close at 10 a.m. Monday, all day Tuesday and resume regular hours Wednesday.

Information on town hall closings for Benoit and Gunnison was unavailable at presstime.

Many city board of aldermen meetings have also been rescheduled to Jan. 8., including Cleveland at 6:30 p.m., Beulah at 4 p.m., Rosedale at 5 p.m., Shaw at 6 p.m., Boyle at 5:30 p.m., Benoit at 4 p.m. and Merigold at 6 p.m.

Shelby will hold its board meeting at 7 p.m. on Monday.

Others have rescheduled for Wednesday, including Mound Bayou at 5:30 p.m., Renova at 7 p.m., Duncan at 6 p.m. and Drew at 5:30 p.m..

Board meeting information for Ruleville, Winstonville and Gunnison was unavailable at presstime.

Bank of Benoit, Bank of Bolivar County, Cleveland State Bank, Guaranty Bank and Trust, M&F Bank, Planters Bank and Trust, Southern Bancorp, and State Bank and Trust will operate regular business hours Monday and be closed on Tuesday.

Regions Bank will close at 2 p.m. Monday and remain closed Tuesday.

Resourceful Environmental Services, Inc. will operate regular trash removal on Monday but will be closed Tuesday.
