Bolivar Medical Center and the citizens of Cleveland welcomes Cleveland Cardiology, the city’s only cardiology clinic, to the Delta.

Dr. Ben Naidoo has been in Cleveland for a short amount of time but is very eager to help all patients suffering from cardiac aliments.

“Clients can make their on appointments or they can be referred by their family physician,” said Naidoo, MD, Ph.D., FACC. “At the present time, we are only working with patients at Bolivar Medical Center but we’re hoping to branch out to the surrounding area.

“I was located in Massachusetts before I came here to Cleveland,” he said. “I came to Cleveland because I wanted to come to an area where there was a need for a cardiology practice.

“I wanted to be a real value to the community.”

Naidoo has been in practice for 20 plus years. He has trained at the University of London where he received a degree in medicine. He received a degree in internal medicine from Harvard medical school.

He then went on to be an assistant professor at New York University Hospital for eight years.

“Heart failure is a huge problem here in the south,” said Naidoo. “One of the reason is due to the population’s diet.

“There is good news for those suffering from different heart diseases,” he said. “There are now new devices available to treat heart failure.

“This area will benefit greatly from these new devices and can have a huge impact on the longevity of so many.”

Naidoo said his clinic focuses on treating patients with all types of cardiac diseases.

“Our focus for this practice is to keep people in good health, maintain and prevent any diseases related to the heart,” he said. “We emphasize heart failure management.

“There are various parameters that we can monitor on patients to prevent compilations such as following their blood pressure, cholesterol, and certain inflammatory markers,” he said. “Our practice is about preventing and treating in such a way that patients can avoid being admitted into the hospital.

“We help patients get on tract with a healthier lifestyle and particularly a healthier diet,” said Naidoo. “We want to help eliminate smoking from the population too.

“We also work with patients that have heart rhythm problems,” said Naidoo. “We hoping in the near future to establish a program to treat heart rhythm problems with catheter based ablation, which means we cure the rhythm problem using a microwave so the patient will not need to use medicines.”

Cleveland Cardiology is located at 218 N Pearman Ave. and is opened from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Thursday and from 8 a.m.-noon on Fridays. The office number is 662-846-1112.
