Multiple injuries result from head-on collision

Friday at 6:49 p.m. Mississippi Highway Patrol Troopers, along with Sunflower County Deputies and fire rescue officials, were dispatched to a two vehicle accident on Miss. Highway 448, about two miles east of Indianola.

Vehicle one a 2013 Toyota Avalon driven by 54-year-old Sharon Coleman of Merigold was traveling west on Highway 448.

Vehicle two a 2005 Ford F150 driven by 21-year-old Kenisha Fulkerson of Indianola was traveling east on Highway 448.

Vehicle two traveled into the westbound lane of traffic colliding head on with vehicle one.

After the impact both vehicles ended up on the north shoulder of Highway 448.

Two unidentified children, ages 2 and 6, were air lifted to the University Medical Center in Jackson with critical injuries.

The 2-year-old child was ejected from the vehicle.

Fulkerson was transported by Medstat EMS to UMC Medical Center with possible critical injuries.

Coleman after being extricated from her vehicle was also transported by Medstat EMS to UMC Medical Center with possible critical injuries.

Fulkerson, Coleman, and the 6-year-old child were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the accident.

The accident is under investigation by the Mississippi Highway Patrol.
