An attempted armed robbery was thwarted Monday morning at Dollar General on Miss. Highway 8 West in Cleveland.

According to Cleveland Police Chief Buster Bingham, when officers arrived on the scene a single black male with weapon in hand headed to the side of the store and drove off in a light colored SUV.

He headed east on Miss. Highway 8 and after a short pursuit Cleveland Police officers stopped the suspect near Thomas Street.

Ramon Wesley, 22, was arrested and charged with one count of armed robbery.

“The officers acted as they were trained to do and there was a good conclusion without anyone getting hurt,” said Bingham. “I can’t say enough about how well the officers did their job.”
