Drew's Mayor Jeffrey Kilpatrick announced that the city received $80,000 to help with repairs to the town's main street.

The Chamber of Commerce and the Drew Enterprise gave the money to re-pave the main thoroughfare.

"The total cost of the project will be between $160,000-170,000. The city will make up the difference," said Kilpatrick.

"I thank the town board for approving this project," said Kilpatrick. "I also thank the Chamber and the Enterprise for providing the funds.

"We hope this will bring back business to the community," said Kilpatrick.

According to the mayor, the street has been in bad shape since he has been office and funding has been a roadblock to repairs.

"I thank the board and the Chamber of Commerce as well as the Enterprise from the bottom of my heart," says Kilpatrick.

A community event is scheduled for this weekend.

"We want to invite everyone out on Aug. 16 for a clean up day," said Kilpatrick.

The event will be from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. and refreshments will be served. Participants should meet on Main Street.
