L.C. “Red” Taylor III, 64, of Shaw died Sunday, August 10, 2014, at Greenwood Leflore Hospital in Greenwood.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Friday, August 15, 2014, at Vernon Memorial Apostolic Faith Church in Cleveland with Pastor John Taylor officiating. Burial will follow in Northwest Shaw Memorial Gardens under the direction of T.L. Redmon Funeral Home in Cleveland.

Mr. Taylor, the fourth of 10 children, was born March 1, 1950, to L.C. and Beatrice Taylor in Shaw. He was educated in the Shaw Public School and worked as a supervisor for over 30 years.

In 1972, he married Mildred Thompson, and to this union two children were born, Natoya (Terez) Jones and Samuel Taylor. He was a member of New Hope Church where he faithfully served as Sunday school teacher and assistant pastor. He was a unique person. He loved playing checkers and working on cars.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Alice Pryor.

Survivors include his wife, Mildred Taylor; children Natoya (Terez) Jones and Samuel Taylor; nephews, John (Ingrid) Adams, Rajon (Janelle) Adams, and Timothy Adams; brothers, Elder John Taylor, L.A. Taylor, Elder Kenny Taylor, Herbert Taylor, David Taylor, Elder Emmanuel Taylor, Percy Taylor and Elder David Taylor; sisters, Pearlean Morris and Beatrice Cotton; seven beautiful grandchildren that he adored; and a host of nieces and nephews.
