Funeral services were at 1 p.m. Monday, April 29, 2013, at Clark and Houghlin Funeral Home in Bardstown, Ky., and burial followed in the Bardstown Cemetery. The Rev. John Sanderson officiated.
Clark and Houghlin Funeral Home and Cremation Services was in charge.
He was born December 27, 1919. in Choctaw County. He attended East Mississippi State Junior College where he played football for two years before entering the Army Air Corps. He was stationed in Indochina Theater where he met his loving wife. He retired from Brandeis Machinery after more than 30 years of service. He was a veteran of World War II and a member of the First Presbyterian Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Hazel Brown Prewitt; his parents, Albert and Pearl Moore Prewitt; three sisters, Alice Prewitt, Bea Prewitt and Nell Malone and three brothers, Elmer Prewitt, Monroe Prewitt and Dois Prewitt.
He is survived by one daughter, Margaret Ann Prewitt Ford and her husband Goebel of Lexington, Ky.; one son, John Prewitt Jr. of Louisville, Ky.; one sister, Frances Shivers of Merigold; and two brothers, Grady Prewitt and A.C. Prewitt, both of Merigold.
