Hulett Hughes, 85, of O’Reilly, died March 19, 2014 in his daughter’s home in Hattiesburg, MS.  A memorial service will be held at Roundaway Baptist Church, Doddsville at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, March 29, 2014, with a pot luck meal to follow.

He served in the National Guard and Army in the early 1950’s where he achieved the rank of Sergeant. 

After his discharge from the Army he worked as a maintenance foreman at Baxter Labs until 1987. 

He enjoyed farming, raising cows, bailing hay and talking to people. 

He and his wife, Billie Ryle Hughes raised three children.  He was a deacon at Boyle Baptist Church. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse Edwin and Mamie Lee (Starnes) Hughes; his sons Ewel and Andy Hughes; his brothers, Thomas and J. L. Hughes; and his sister, Loyce H. Floyd. 

He is survived by his wife, Billie Ryle Hughes; his daughter, Charlett H. Hollomon; his grandchildren, Joseph (Stephanie) Hollomon, Sara Hollomon (Matt) Bayley, Emily Hughes (Daniel) Garcia, Jason (Shannon) Hughes, Amanda Hughes and Carrie Hughes; his daughter-in-laws, Barbara (Ewel) Hughes and Karen (Andy) Hughes.

He is also survived by 7 great grandchildren, Jalen, Hayden and Rowen Hollomon, Reilly and Madden Bayley, and Lillie and Andi Garcia.

He is also survived by his sister Sue H. Strawbridge, and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
