Eddie Horton, 59, a life-long citizen of District 5 of Sunflower County is seeking the position of election commissioner.

In this position he said he will stress availability, dependability and trust at all times.

"I have been employed for 26 years at Super Value (Lewis Grocer) in Indianola. For 12 years I was shipping and receiving for Carhartt South in Drew. Therefore I am no stranger to the leadership role. I also served on the Drew city board for four years," he said.

"If elected, my main objective is to ensure that every registered voter of District 5 is treated fairly and with respect. I will ensure you that your voting rights will be protected from the circuit clerk's office to the ballot box.

"We want the elections in District 5 to run smoothly, fairly and honestly. I promise to make sure these things happen. I will appreciate your vote on Nov. 6," he said.

District 5 includes the precincts of Drew at the National Guard Armory, North Rulevillle at Ruleville Health Department, Rome at Rome Baptist Church and Sunflower Plantation at Bethany Baptist Church.
