SHAW — The Shaw High School Hawks came out and put on a basketball clinic against the Vardaman Rams in the first round of the 1A North Half Boys Basketball Playoffs here Tuesday night.

Shaw had 11 players score at a point in the team’s 93-22 blowout win over Vardaman. The Hawks, at 21-7, will play Ashland in the quarterfinals of the playoffs in Biggersville on Thursday. According to maxpreps, Vardaman finished its season at 3-18.

Hawks head coach Anthony Davis said the team is in the zone right now.

“Our guys know what’s at stake, and their main goal is to get the job done,” Davis said. “They’re playing together and playing hard every game.”

Shaw scored at least 20 points in each quarter, while Vardaman couldn’t score any more than eight points in a period. Shaw emptied the bench as 15 players saw playing time. The players that didn’t score either recorded a rebounded, an assist, a steal or blocked shot.
