George Washington Harrison III, 90, of Shaw died on Friday, August 16, 2013.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 24, 2013, at McEvans Elementary School in Shaw. Burial will follow at Spangle Banner Cemetery in Shaw with Rev. Lonnie Gunn officiating.

Visitation will be from 1-3 p.m. on Friday, August 23, 2103, followed by a wake from 3-4 p.m. at T.L. Redmon Funeral Home Chapel in Cleveland, and from 10-11 a.m. on Saturday prior to the service.

Mr. Harrison was born September 7, 1923, in Moselle. He was a member of the U.S. Army, where he served in World War II. He was a graduate of Jackson State University and furthered his education at the University of Utah State and the University of Vermont.

He was a devoted father to five sons, George Harrison IV of Shaw, Charlie (Donna) Harrison of Shaw, Peter Harrison of Reading, Penn., Willie (Bessie) McCullum of Milwaukee, Wis., and Jimmie (Barbara) Harrison of Milwaukee, Wis.; five daughters, Laverne Franklin of Shaw, Mary Ann Cooper of Shaw, Clemestine Harrison of Cleveland, Nettie (Melvin) Nailer of Shaw and Vera (Bobby) McGlaston of Milwaukee, Wis., and one god-daughter, Pastor Elnora Littleton of Rosedale.

He is also survived by a brother, Douglas Harrison of Chicago, Ill., two sisters, Betty Ruth Lyles of Reading, Penn., and Marvistean Leaf of Reading, Penn.; Three sisters-in-law, three brothers-in-law, 27 grandchildren, 66 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
