Mississippi Senator Willie Simmons (left) and State Representative Linda Coleman (right) celebrate the unveiling of Dr. T.R.M. Howard's marker on the Mississippi Freedom Trail in Mound Bayou on Thursday. Son of civil rights activist Amzie Moore, Darrell Moore (right) celebrates the new marker honoring his father at their former home on Chrisman Avenue in Cleveland on Thursday. Bolivar County Administrator Will Hooker said the unveiling of both markers was of utmost significance to the county. "Both of these leaders were pivotal for civil rights in Bolivar County, but their impacts also spanned beyond the county," said Hooker. "We have a lot, as a collective group, to give honor to these people. These markers are just a small portion of our admiration to these individuals. They did a lot to mold and shape this community in order to ensure equality."
