Elijah “Dickerson” Dixon, 65, of Shelby died Friday, May 2, 2014, at University Medical Center in Jackson.

Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 10, 2014, at Reuben Z. Riddle Chapel in Shelby with Rev. Elijah Dixon Marshall of Memphis, Tenn., officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Mariah Cemetery in Shelby under the direction of Delta Burial.

He was born on June 30, 1948, and was a farmer.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Walter, Roosevelt and George; and a sister, Geraldine Dixon Weatherspoon.

Survivors include daughters, Leola Dixon Holmes of Shelby, Christine Dixon of Ruleville and Dorothy Wilson of Memphis, Tenn.; sons, Elijah Dixon Jr. of Lexington, Tenn., Willie Lee Wilson and Joe Porter, both of Shelby; sister, Hattie Conner of Clarksdale; brother, Robert Lee Dixon; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
