Economy Tire and Auto Supply on U.S. Highway 61 in Cleveland has changed hands.

Don Lindsey and Cleveland Mayor Billy Nowell are working together as co-owners of the business. Sid Melton is their manager.

“We took over the business on the first of December,” said Melton. “We had the Express Lubes and the oil changes but we wanted to venture out and do something a little different.

“We wanted to do something in the same field but venture out a little bit,” he continued.

The shop sells a wide variety of parts for cars, farm equipment and all-terrain vehicles.

“We’ve got tires, farm tires, tractor parts, car parts, ATV parts and a lot more accessories,” said Melton. “We’ve also got a 24 hour road service.

“That’s going good,” he continued. “It’s been picking up a lot since farmers have been hitting the fields.”

Currently, the shop is open six days a week — Monday through Saturday.

“Right now we’re open from 7 a.m.-5:30 p.m.,” said Melton. “But we’re talking about changing it to 6 or 6:30 p.m.”

Saturdays, however, the shop is open until 1 p.m.

“We just wanted to get it out there and let everyone know that the business has changed hands,” said Melton. “We want to treat everybody right and give the best opportunity for business.”
