Anna Grace Cummins took first in the AA girls shot put, while Henley took first in the A boys shot put.
Cummins threw her shot put a distance of 36-feet, 9.75 inches. Centerville’s Amanda Brown (35-06.50) finished second. The state title was Cummins’ third consecutive in the shot put and first in AA. Cummins previous two titles were in A. Cummins also finished third in the discus with a throw of 103-feet, 3 inches. The senior had won the state in discus the previous two years in A.
Henley won his state title with a throw of 42-feet, 10 inches. Mt. Salus’ Dagen Nation took second with a throw of 41-feet, 4 inches.
The Bayou girls ended up finishing with 16 points to finish in a tie for sixth place, while NSA finished in eighth with 10 points.
Other notables, Bayou’s Weber Herbison finished second in the boys long jump in the AA State meet, while NSA’s Avery Whatley finished sixth in the girls long jump in the A State Girls meet.
Bayou finished 10th in the AA boys meet with eight points, while NSA took 18th with three points.
