Columbus day closings set

This year, Columbus Day will be celebrated on Monday, Oct. 8 and several local businesses, government offices, banks and schools will be closed in observance of the holiday.

The Bolivar Commercial will be open for regular office hours Monday.

All federal government offices in Bolivar County will be closed.

Beulah Town Hall, Boyle Town Hall, Cleveland City Hall, Drew City Hall, Gunnison Town Hall, Mound Bayou City Hall, Renova Town Hall, Rosedale City Hall, Ruleville City Hall, Shaw City Hall and Shelby City Hall will all be open and operating their regular business hours.

Merigold Town Hall will be closed.

As of press-time officials at Winstonville Town Hall were unsure if their offices would be open Monday.

Attempts to contact the Benoit Town Hall and the Pace Town Hall were unsuccessful.

All of Bolivar County’s banks will be closed on Monday. They will reopen for normal business hours Tuesday. This includes: Bank of Benoit, Bank of Bolivar County, Cleveland State Bank, Jefferson Bank, Guaranty Bank and Trust, M&F Bank, Planters Bank and Trust, State Bank and Trust, Regions Bank and Southern Bancorp.

Benoit School District, Shelby School District, Rosedale School District, Mound Bayou School District and Shaw School District will be open on Monday.

Bayou Academy and North Sunflower Academy will be open on Monday.

Delta State University offices will be open Monday and classes will meet as usual.

Cleveland School District, Sunflower County School District and Presbyterian Day School will be closed on Monday.

Resourceful Environmental Services Inc. will operate regular trash removal on Monday.
