For the next two Saturdays Cleveland City Hall will be open from 8 a.m.-noon to allow registered voters to vote absentee.

“You can vote absentee now during normal city hall hours but on the two Saturdays prior to the May 7 primary we will extend those hours,” said Cleveland Administrator John Lindsey, who is interim city clerk.

According to the absentee voter application, to vote absentee, the registered voter “will be absent from the county of residence on election day, or unable to vote in person” due to specific reasons.

Reasons for not being able to vote in person include, but are not limited to, being in military service, being out of the county or country, being hospitalized, being disabled, or being 65 or over.

The primary election will be held from 7 a.m.-7 p.m. May 7 and the general election will be held from 7 a.m.-7 p.m.

Due to the date of the election, the Cleveland Board of Aldermen meeting has been moved to 6:30 p.m. May 14.

??Incumbent Cleveland officials running for office are Billy Nowell, mayor; Maurice Smith, Ward 1; Robert Sanders, Ward 2; Danny Abraham, Ward 3; Ted Campbell, Ward 4; Paul Janoush, Ward 5; Kirkham Povall, Ward 6; and Gary Gainspoletti, At-large.

??Also running for alderman are Cynthia Blockett, Ward 1; Kevin Cox, Ward 3; and Ajax Morris, At-large. ?

All locations will vote for Alderman-At-Large.

The training is open to the general public.
