Two Bolivar Countians have dedicated themselves to entertaining children and making birthday parties as memorable as possible.

Ronda and Kierre Rimmer have spent the last year operating The Brooklyn Express and Kids’ Entertainment Company, which specializes in character and train rentals.

It’s a family operation with five staff members.

“We provide entertainment for children’s parties within a 60 mile radius of Cleveland,” said Ronda. “Our goal is to make the child’s birthday as memorable as possible.”

Their set up includes one train and several character replicas.

“Right now, we have one trackless train (that) can hold up to 18 children, depending on the size of each child,” said Ronda. “We have special character replicas for the children to choose from including Dora, Sponge Bob, Elmo, Mickey Mouse and Spiderman.

“We come to the party and the character entertains the children,” she continued.

Party packages are done in hour-long increments and can be characters only or character and train deals.

“Each party we attend, we include a gift for the honoree and some goodie bags for the guests,” Ronda explained. “We have several activities to choose from including musical games, party games and photo printing.”

The business has been very rewarding for the Rimmers and their crew.

“I have so many sweet stories but the one that stands out is when the little boy told Spiderman that he wants him to live with him forever,” Ronda said. “My favorite event so far has been the Winstonville Homecoming Festival. That was the first time I sent the train out and the kids loved it.

“When the characters enter the room, I love to see the faces of the children light up,” she continued.

So far, Dora has been the popular favorite for girls and Spiderman for boys, though the Rimmers are looking to expand the characters they offer.

“I am looking to add some new female characters by this summer,” Ronda explained.

They are also planning to hold “The Brooklyn Express Day” sometime soon at one of the local parks.
