Michael S. Carr of Griffith & Griffith Attorneys in Cleveland was recently presented the Outstanding Young Lawyer of the Year Award by the Mississippi Bar Association at its annual meeting in Sandestin, Fla.

This award is presented in recognition of the attorney’s public service, volunteerism, and contribution to the legal profession.

“I am very honored to receive this recognition by the Mississippi Bar Association,” said Carr.

“This would not have been possible without the support of Ben and Danny Griffith who have always encouraged me to be involved in Bar Association activities and public service here in Bolivar County.

“Since our practice involves government defense, the majority of my volunteer work has focused on providing free legal services for law enforcement officers, criminal law related education for college and high school students, and numerous presentations and speaking engagements regarding the path from high school to law practice.  I would also like to thank my paralegal, Vicky Smith, for her work ethic and constant attention to detail in balancing the many different projects we undertake. She is a great asset to our firm.”

Mike is immediate past chair of Mississippi High School Mock Trial Competition, actively involved in Wills For Heroes, and is currently state Chair of the Lawyers in Every Classroom Program of the Mississippi Bar.

He is an on call attorney for the Southern States Police Benevolent Association and public defender for the Eleventh Circuit Court District.

Mike was featured as a “rising star” in the December 2013 addition of Super Lawyers Magazine and currently serves as President of the Bolivar County Bar Association.

He is a graduate of Cleveland High School and the University of Mississippi.
