Cleveland High’s Cole Thomas will be competing in the boys singles division for the Wildcats on Monday when they travel to Pontotoc to take on Pontotoc High School in the second round of the 4A State Tennis Team Playoffs.

The Cleveland High School Wildcats will be looking to continue their hunt for a state tennis title on Monday when they travel to Pontotoc to take on the Pontotoc High School Warriors in the second round of the 4A State Tennis Team Playoffs.

Last week, Cleveland defeated Houston in a thriller 4-3, while Pontotoc defeated Lafayette to advance to the second round. Pontotoc won the Region 1 Championship during the regular season, while Cleveland won the Region 3 Title.

For Cleveland, Merrill Dean Rogers and Lorna Leigh Rogers will be competing in the No. 1 girls doubles division; Shelby Swafford and Ashley Braden Horton will be battling in the No. 2 girls doubles match; Chase Fuller and Coleman Warrington will be competing in the No. 1 boys doubles match; Daniel Woo and Will Virden will be competing in No. 2 boys doubles action; Cody Causey and Emma Hardy will be playing in mixed doubles action; Cole Thomas will be battling in boys singles action and Katherine Swafford will be competing in the girls singles match.

Monday’s match is set for 3:30 p.m.

The winner of the Cleveland-Pontotoc match will take on the winner of the New Albany-Greenwood-West Lauderdale winner in the quarterfinals.
