The Cleveland High School Lady Wildcats saw their softball come to an end as they lost to the Lewisburg High School Lady Patriots 9-1 in the second game of a best of three series in the second round of the 4A State Fast Pitch Softball Playoffs in Olive Branch Monday.

Cleveland finished its season at 12-10.

“We played a good team who just hit the ball better than we did,” Cleveland High head coach Jody Wright said.

Lewisburg jumped on Cleveland early by scoring three runs in the first and two runs in the second for a 5-0 lead. Cleveland scored a run in the fifth, but Lewisburg scored four more runs in the sixth to put the icing on the cake.

Taylor Collins and Brianna Garner pitched three innings each for Cleveland.

Taylor Collins led Cleveland at the plate with three and two stolen bases, followed by Kellie Cummins, Lauren Ashley Collins, Ferris Love Capocaccia, Megan Skelton and Anna Claire Upchurch with a hit each.

In the field, Taylor had five assists, Cumming had three assists and Upchurch had eight put out with two double plays.

Lewisburg (15-15) will advance to play in the quarterfinals this week.
