As a believer, the word breakthrough means this and so much more. The word breakthrough gets it’s power in our faith from David.
In 2 Samuel 5:20, David is in battle with the Philistines who had went out in search of him in full force after they heard he was anointed king of Israel.
So David went to Baal Perazim, and there he defeated the Philistines. David said, “As waters break out, the Lord has broken out against my enemies before me.” So that place was called Baal Perazim, meaning the Lord who breaks out or Lord of the breakthrough.
David describes the experience of God delivering his enemies into has hands as waters breaking out. It’s important to understand that when water breaks out it touches everything.
Right now in our lives I believe that God is preparing to break out like water and touch so many different areas of your life. He is about to bring you to a breakthrough that not only carries you out of your financial hurdles, but helps heal your relationships while touching the lives of your children and bringing peace to other areas all at the same time.
I truly believe that God wants to manifest his power in our lives just like he did David, just like he did with Abraham, Moses and so many others.
How do we know that we’re truly on the verge of a spiritual breakthrough? Generally, it’s because at this precise point, all hell seems to break loose. We go from nervous excitement and happy expectation into fear. Suddenly we are filled with self-doubt. The choice that seemed so bold and true yesterday suddenly needs to be re-examined. We procrastinate on taking action. We talk our plans over incessantly with our friends, trying to find reassurance.
It’s not uncommon to operate in these uncertainties, but we have to get to the place that we trust that God is preparing to do some great things in our lives. In God it’s important to have the belief that anything can happen, and it probably will.
There are so many times where God has shown that he is a master of bringing about breakthroughs. All through history God has brought about breakthroughs for his people:
• When it looked as if what God had promised would never come to pass — Abraham and Sarah have a son Isaac.
• When all odds were stacked against them, He brought triumph with great victory to — David over Goliath and Jehosophat and his people over the multitudes of Moabites and Ammonites.
• When they were unjustly accused God turned the tables on their enemies — Daniel in the Lions Den as well as the three Hebrew boys.
Just like God did it for them, he will do it for us.
For many of us the battle is lost in our minds because we lack confidence in God’s ability to do great things. This is mainly because we have taken the worlds way of thinking instead of God’s way.
“And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.” Romans 12:2.
As we continue to grow in God, I trust that we will understand that God is ready to perform a breakthrough is our lives, but we must remember that for as we think in our hearts, so are we, (Proverbs 23:7)
Keep the faith and stay encouraged. M.J.T. Love.
