BC Tournament to start Wednesday

One of the most highly anticipated events of the high school basketball season will take place this week.

The annual Bolivar County High School Basketball Tournament will begin on Wednesday and conclude on Friday. Wednesday’s first round girls action will be at West Bolivar High School in Rosedale, while Wednesday’s first round boys action will be at West Bolivar Middle School in Rosedale. Thursday and Friday’s action will be at the Walter Sillers Coliseum on the campus of Delta State University.

In Wednesday’s first round girls action, the fourth seeded Ray Brooks Lady Tigers will be battle the fifth seeded West Bolivar Lady Eagles at 12 p.m.; the third seeded Cleveland High School Lady Wildcats will take on the sixth seeded Shaw High School Lady Hawks at 1:30 p.m. and the second seeded East Side Trojanettes will battle the seventh seeded Broad Street Lady Jaguars at 3 p.m.

In Thursday’s semifinal girls action at the Walter Sillers Coliseum, the winner of the East Side-Broad Street game will battle the winner of the Cleveland High-Shaw game at 4 p.m., while the top seeded John F. Kennedy Lady Hornets will battle the winner of the Ray Brooks-West Bolivar game at 7 p.m.

The consolation game of the tournament will be played at 4 p.m. on Friday, followed by the championship game at 7 p.m. at the Walter Sillers Coliseum.

In Wednesday’s first round boys action in Rosedale, the fourth seeded Broad Street Jaguars will take on the fifth seeded Cleveland High School Wildcats at 5 p.m.; the third seeded East Side Trojans will battle the sixth seeded John F. Kennedy Hornets at 7 p.m. and the second seeded Shaw High School Hawks will take on the seventh seeded Ray Brooks Tigers at 8:30 p.m.

In Thursday’s semifinal action at the Walter Sillers Coliseum, the winner of the Shaw-Ray Brooks game will battle the winner of the East Side-JFK game at 5:30, while the top seeded West Bolivar Eagles will battle the winner of the Broad Street-Cleveland game at 8:30 p.m.

The consolation game of the tournament will be played at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, followed by the championship game at 8:30 p.m. at the Walter Sillers Coliseum.

Last year, the Trojanettes won the girls division, while the Eagles won the boys division.
