In early October, the Shaw High School classes from the 1960s gathered for a weekend of fun and camaraderie.

This was the sixth reunion of the classes of 1960-1969, which have been meeting about every five years since 1984.

On Oct. 1, the classmates met at Airport Grocery in Cleveland and then on Oct. 2, they had breakfast at Southern Grill, visited Shaw High School and then had dinner and dancing at the Parish Center of Our Ladfy of Victories Catholic Church in Cleveland. Steve Sizemore and Shirley Sizemore, a 1960 graduate, provided the food.

People came from other states include Colorado, Oklahome, Florida, Tennessee, Arkansas, Virginia, Alabama, Georgia, Texas, Louisiana, Kentucky and North Carolina.

A few non-’60s people came including Sammye Ann and Dennis Short and Tiny Templeton.

Teachers and staff who were present, included Laura Moody, business and typing; Nell Sandroni, P.E. and basketball coach; Nell Williams, home economics; Willo Goodwin, P.E. and football coach; Lattra Malone, English; and Penny Washington, secretary to the superintendent, R.L. Thorn.

Members of the organizing committee are: Shirley Canico Sizemore, 1960; Jimmy Muzzi, 1961; Shirley Reeves Hewitt, 1962; James Robinson, 1963; Mary Helen Montesi Waller and Almarene McKnight Palmer, 1964; Susie Melott Thomas and Glenda Herbison Correro, 1965; Gai Litton Davis, 1966; Alice Lofton Herbison, 1967; Bob and Linda Yeager, 1968; and Brenda Cocilova Aguzzi, 1969.
