Funeral services for Rev. Robert Lee Chason, 77, of Monroe, were at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 26, 2014, at First Church of The Nazarene of West Monroe, with Chaplain Shelly Scallions and Rev. Larry Mudgett officiating. Interment followed at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery, under direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe.

Rev. Chason died Wednesday, April 23, 2014, at St. Francis North Medical Center. He was a graduate of Trevecca Nazarene University in Nashville, Tenn., and served as a chaplain at the Mississippi Department of Corrections. Rev. Chason was an ordained elder in the Church of The Nazarene. He was recognized as a Kentucky Colonel for his work in prison ministries.

Rev. Chason was preceded in death by his parents, Delmer and Susie Chason.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Mozelle Chason; sons, Steve Chason of Dayton, Texas, Dan Chason of Rayville, La.; daughter, Susan Taylor of Monroe, La.; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; brothers, John D. Chason, Mike Chason; sisters, Betty Rackley, Alice Chason; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Andy Chason, Jon Miller, Mikey Garoby, Casey Barton, Charles Paxton, and Bo Taylor.

Visitation was from 6-8 p.m. Friday, April 25, 2014, at the church.
